Create! Don't Hate. is a mentoring program for high school students in the Las Vegas area in partnership with Design Ignites Change and the Art Institute of Las Vegas. Graphic designers (professionals and college students) were matched up with high school students interested in Graphic Design from Foothill High School in Henderson, Nevada. The students worked one-on-one with mentors from the community to create posters on tolerance and acceptance that later on could become billboards throughout the city.

"Love and Peace" created by Jelani was voted by the students as the top design showing tolerance and acceptance. Everyone had great things to say about his work, Good Job Jalani!
Natalie's Project was the runner up design. Her unique perspective on the acceptance of bitbulls and her amazing painting skills impressed everyone. Great Work Natalie!

32 participating students will be broken up into creative teams of 4, and each team will work closely with a mentoring professional or college student. Each student will work through the steps & processes of a real design project with their mentor in order to create a billboard dealing with the issues of tolerance.

Each week, the mentors will visit the students to discuss their career path and oversees a creative project that allows the students to explore ways of communicating tolerance through various exercises in design, typography, and illustration.
