Upacita is a ground up funding model for the arts and non profits. It is a shared ownership of creative businesses by individuals within the arts and cultural community (piloting in Jakarta). Starting with small individual investments (acknowledging volunteer time and artistic skills as a form of investment in addition to money), Upacita aggregates the market power of individuals who by themselves could not achieve financial independence. Included in the platform is the possibility of of micro-loans for new creative businesses. It augments income, while sustaining the community’s programs, financing the arts from the ground up.
